Today it’s time to talk to Mark, one half of the Hewitt&Carr leadership team.

Since 2011 Natalie Hewitt and Mark Carr  have been working together to grow the Hewitt&Carr Group, which includes the businesses Hewitt&Carr Architects, Hewitt&Carr Developments and their latest venture Hewitt&Carr Services.

Tell us how you and Natalie became business partners?

Me and Nat had worked together for many years at an architectural practice based in Stoke-on-Trent. After we were both made redundant in 2011 we took action and set up Hewitt & Carr Architects together.

How has the business grown over the past 9 years?

It’s been 0 to 100mph since day one and we have been running to catch up ever since, very proud of our Hewitt and Carr family.

How have you coped during lockdown?

I have kept very busy maintaining our normal high quality work for our client base, keeping the live projects running on site and those projects that needed completing ready for pricing. It’s been very stressful with very long days at the laptop on the dining room table, but the hard work, fingers crossed, will pay off.

What are you most proud of?

I am extremely proud of what an amazing group of companies me and Nat have built from our small 2-person beginnings, and all our staff that work so hard to make it possible.

Who inspires you?

My Dad, David Carr OBE DL.  He was an inspirational business man and my best friend.

What are your plans for the future?

Myself and Nat have lots of plans for the future, all I’ll say at the minute is watch this space!

What are you passionate about outside of work?

My family are my number one passion, but I also love to work on my classic car in my spare time and drag the kids along to join me and the wife at lots of car events in the year.
